Exterior The Outer Banks is one of the most meteorologically unique areas in the United States. Sand, the sea, and a winter full of Nor'easters will wreak havoc on a paint job. Hard Shell begins with extensive preparation. We begin with a low pressure cleaning treatment to kill all molds and mildew and to remove all dust dirt and debris. All faulty paint is scraped. All gaps and cracks are sealed to improve structural integrity, and to give a more solid and "tighter" look. All minor repairs are done at a rate for time and materials. We then apply a prime coat to all bare wood. Once the primer has sufficiently set, two full top coats are applied and back brushed to give an even and strongly bonded finish. There are several variations in building materials. Whether it is cedar shake, stucco, or hardi-plank, Hard Shell Painting uses the right material for the right job. We prefer top of the line products like PPG's line of latex, Manor Hall, or the water based stain, Sunproof. You get what you pay for.
